And in his creation of Dr. Waston, Holmes’s companion in adventure and chronicler, Conan Doyle produced not only a perfect foil for Holmes but also one of the most famous narrators in fiction

سِر آرتور ایگناتیوس کانن دویل ، زاده ۲۲ مه ۱۸۵۹ نویسنده ، پدیدآور و پزشک اسکاتلدندی بود. او در ابتدا به حرفه پزشکی می‌پرداخت اما آوازه خود را مدیون خلق شخصیت شرلوک هولمز ، کاراگاه خصوصی است . او چهار رمان و بیش از پنجاه داستان کوتاه از شرلوک هولمز نوشته است . وی در زمان خود نویسنده ای پر کار بوده علاوه بر داستان های شرلوک هولمز ؛ اشعار ، نمایشنامه ها و رمان های بسیار دیگری نوشته است .
